Refuse removal backlog addressed by the metro

Refuse outside a property in Kempton Park.

The metro hopes to clear all refuse removal backlogs in Kempton Park by Friday.

Ward councillor Pieter Henning said Birch Acres, Bredell, Allen Grove, Terenure and Glen Marais should be done today, with the metro finishing on Friday.

According to Henning, the latest operational management plan dealing with the backlog indicates the metro is dealing with a shortage of staff and trucks fitted with high bin lifters, causing the delay in refuse removal.

Apparently there is a delay in fitting trucks with these lifters, Henning said.
