No control over noise levels of Dries Niemandt Park function

I have recently retired at Oklahoma Gardens on Okkerneut Avenue in Edleen.

While I am very open to the use of facilities made available by the local council to users, it appears there is no restriction with regard to the control of noise levels.

As I am typing this email, while about 2km away from a function currently taking place at Dries Niemandt Park, the noise is unbearable and certainly the level of noise is not required from the organisers to have the attendees enjoy the function.

I am not narrow-minded and understand and respect cultural diversity but this level of noise pollution and disturbance in total disregard of the right of taxpayers living 2km away from the event is unacceptable.

I do not consider this to be dealt with as a criminal matter as recommended by Ekurhuleni call centre. I have kindly requested that this unacceptable level of noise pollution should be brought to the attention of, I guess, parks and recreation, as I assume they are responsible for renting out the facilities.

They should lay down the rules for making use of the facility which belongs to all the residents of Ekurhuleni.

Mdu at the call centre (2.48pm) treated me with respect but told me his supervisor told him I must call 112, a totally inappropriate reply from somebody at a supervisory level.

I would appreciate it if this matter could be brought to the attention of the responsible authority and officials.
