Youth invited to showcase hip hop skills

Local youth invited to impress famous artists.

BACKYARD hip hop and lifestyle movement to unite local youth through music this Saturday (August 26) in Norkem Park.

Sizwe Qaba, who is the communications and marketing manager at Backyard said: “We have discovered that a lot of young rappers and performers do not have the resources to promote their brands and have created a platform where young talent will be given an opportunity to perform.”

The event will be hosted as part of hip hop artist Bigstar Johnson’s birthday celebration at 21 Caledon Street from midday until late at an entrance fee of R50.

Interested performers should send a 60 seconds video clip to 081 386 9493. The videos will be uploaded on Backyard social media platforms and the youngsters will be required to promote their videos. The artists with the most views will be given an opportunity to share the stage with established hip hop artists such as BigStar Johnson, Reason, Kid-X, Rouge, DJ Capital and Priddy Ugly.
