ENTRIES are continuing to come in for MES Kempton Park’s baby and toddler competition.

The winners will be announced at 12.30pm at the Kempton Park Kids Festival on August 26 at Dries Niemandt Park.

Festivities for the day involve a variety of fleamarket stalls, good food and fun rides for the kids. This includes paintball, quatro bungy, water slide, parachute rocket, train and horse rides and go-karts. Entertainment for the day will be performances by the Joshuas, New Roots, KingD, IV4 and Navi Redd.

The entry fee for the competition is R45 a child.

Funds raised will be used for several MES programmes, including an overnight shelter for 42 homeless people; community kitchen that serves an average of 60 meals a day to homeless and unemployed individuals; a food parcel project that provides parcels to 60 poor families living in the inner city; an after-school centre that can assist 20 children with homework and exam preparation; the GROW job rehabilitation project that offers life and job rehabilitation programmes to assist homeless and unemployed individuals.

The branch also runs a garden service initiative which forms part of the GROW project. MES would like to invite the community to make use of this service.

The inner city is facing many challenges and problems, but residents can support projects like these to make a difference and bring about positive change.
