A man was killed this morning (Tuesday) when his car rear-ended a truck on the R21 before the Olifantsfontein turn-off.

ER24 paramedics, along with various other services, arrived on the scene and found the wrecked light motor vehicle in the middle of the turn-off. The truck had come to a stop a short distance away, said Russel Meiring, ER spokesman.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered the body of a man, believed to be in his late 20s, lying about three metres away from his vehicle.

Paramedics assessed the man and found he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead on the scene.

The driver of the truck was assessed and found to have escaped injury.

Traffic was heavily affected in the area due to the collision.
