Armed cash robber tracked down in Glen Marais through CCTV

AN armed cash robber who has been wanted for over a year was finally arrested on Saturday morning while allegedly targeting his next victim.

The suspect (37) was caught on CCTV footage while at ABSA Bank in Glen Marais at about 10am.

According to Kempton police’s spokesperson, Capt Jethro Mtshali, the suspect was allegedly targeted bank customers who withdrew large amounts of money. He would follow them home and rob them at gunpoint.

“The suspect was first identified through video footage and then held for questioning. Following police investigations, it was revealed he was wanted for various incidents of armed robberies around Kempton and Midrand,” Mtshali explained.

Police said the robberies took place in January and February last year.

Police are busy with further investigations.
