UPDATE: The department will start opening valves at 9am and water should come through by 10am.
The pressure will pick up during the day.
RESIDENTS are still without water this morning as teams from the water department are still busy with maintenance work.
The emergency water shutdown was supposed to last from 8pm on Monday evening until 3am on Tuesday morning, affecting several Kempton Park suburbs.
As repairs and valve replacements could not be completed on time, it is now expected that the water supply will only be back on at 8.30am, ward councillor Jaco Terblanche said.
The shutdown was necessary to replace valves on Willow Street and Kingfisher Street in Kempton Park CBD and for pipe repairs at the corner off Albatross and Gladiator streets, as well as at the corner of Loam Street and Dann Road.
The areas affected are Kempton Park CBD, Kempton Park extensions, Aston Manor, Nimrod Park, Allen Grove, Glen Erasmia, Glen Marais, Pomona and Bredell.
